Between 1943 and 1953, the Royal New Zealand Air Force operated 56 airplanes of that type. The original of this model, NZ4017 with the additional code XX-T is one of them, and this example was fitted out for water-borne operations only. It was mainly operated as search and rescue aircraft. Today, a NZ4017 XX-T exists again. As beautifully restored example, it belongs to the private Catalina Company based at Ardmore airport near Auckland. This model is limited to 1,000 items.
