For 100 years, the iconic Goodyear Blimp has been soaring through the skies and captivating audiences worldwide. It all started back in 1925 with the “Pilgrim”. She was the first commercial non-rigid airship flown using helium, its gondola carrying two crew members and two passengers. The Pilgrim initiated the use of blimps for public relations.  Since the 1960s, the blue and yellow blimps have become part of major professional sports events throughout North America, with a growing presence in Europe in recent years. “Wingfoot One” was the first of three state-of-the-art airships, manufactured by Luftschiffbau Zeppelin to be delivered to Wingfoot Lake Airship Hangar, near the company’s global headquarters in Akron, Ohio.
