From the Sahara Desert to Heathrow: This Boeing 737-200 wasn’t just any aircraft – for over three decades, 5U-BAG served as the official state jet of Niger. Delivered in 1978, it flew presidents, diplomats, and delegations around the world. Thanks to its gravel kit, it could even operate on remote desert airstrips.
After 36 years in service, the aircraft was retired in 2014 and stored at Lasham Airfield in the UK. Nearly a decade later, in 2023, its story took a new turn when we salvaged parts of its iconic green-and-white fuselage for upcycling.
We’ve transformed this piece of aviation history into a genuine Aviationtag – crafted from original aircraft skin, each plane tag is unique and carries the marks of its journey.
Note: Each Aviationtag is one of a kind. Depending on the aircraft, they may differ in texture, material thickness, and color. Minor imperfections tell the story of many years in the sky and give each piece the character of a bygone era. Small scratches, paint chips, and surface irregularities are completely normal and give this aircraft tag its unique charm – that of a vintage product made from upcycled materials. These features are not the result of the production process but reflect the condition of the original aircraft skin used!
5U-BAG is over 47 years old and the paint is extremely brittle. Paint chipping is to be expected and not a reason for complaint. If used as a keychain or luggage tag, we recommend using the Aviationtag protective cover.
