With the release of this Airbus A330, Herpa is closing a gap in the series of Lufthansa models in the carrier’s current livery. The A330 family had been an important pillar in Lufthansa’s fleet for next to two decades. Slowly but steadily the remaining A330-300s are being replaced by new-generation aircraft such as the Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s. The currently remaining seven aircraft, including D-AIKS named for the city of Kassel and the youngest of the remaining A330s, are to be transferred to other airlines inside the Lufthansa Group, most probably Discover Airlines and Brussels Airlines.
