In the 1950s, the Lockheed L-1649 was considered the epitome of innovation and elegance. Starting in 1957, the "Super Star" was primarily used on the Hamburg - New York route, flying nonstop in about 17 hours. In Hamburg, D-ALAN underwent extensive restoration and was finally repainted in her original livery at Münster/Osnabrück Airport.
