Luftwaffe

Lockheed F-35A

The first German F-35A, with the serial number 35+01, is expected to be delivered to the German Air Force around the same time this new model is announced. It bears the emblem of the Luftwaffe’s Tactical Training Command in the U.S. on its vertical stabilizer, as it—along with the seven jets to follow—will be stationed at Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The 35 F-35s ordered will replace the now aging Panavia Tornados at the German Air Force’s 33rd Tactical Wing in Büchel. The wing will operate both aircraft types in parallel for a transitional period—expected to last until 2030—in order to fulfill its nuclear sharing mission within the framework of NATO. ,The first German F-35A, with the serial number 35+01, is expected to be delivered to the German Air Force around the same time this new model is announced.
